Childhood Cancer Support was founded by families who focused on advocacy and improvement in treatment facilities, including the need for skilled personnel and specialised equipment. Childhood cancers are distinctly different from their adult forms and, recognising this, these visionaries identified the need to help children that had been diagnosed, and their families. These families also identified the urgent need to provide suitable home-away-from-home family styled accommodation facilities for regional families who needed to relocate for long-term oncology treatments for their child.
Since 1975, Childhood Cancer Support has been helping families impacted by childhood cancer with a place to call home during their child’s cancer treatment. Our recently renovated accommodation houses encourage family and friends to visit to provide love and support to the families to assist throughout the cancer journey.
A new accommodation facility is also being redeveloped close to the Children's Hospital and will house an additional 15 families in new apartments providing a home away from home accommodation option.
We provide holistic support to families impacted by childhood cancer in an inclusive, warm and loving social environment for the families as well as professional counselling and mental health services and transport services.
