Host your own event for Talk Like a Pirate Day!
Each year, hundreds of schools, childcare centres, workplaces and community groups band together and host their own event in support of Talk Like a Pirate Day. You can dress up, host pirate themed morning teas, or even use one of our pirate lesson plans.
The opportunities are endless! All funds raised go towards Childhood Cancer Support and providing accommodation, transport and support services to regional families facing childhood cancer.
Talk Like a Pirate Day on the 19th September is nationally recognised as the major fundraiser for Childhood Cancer Support. Host your event any time in September during National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

“This past year Kingfisher Park Preschool took part in Talk Like a Pirate Day for the first time. Our goal was not only to raise money for such a worthy cause but help the children in our care gain a sense of empowerment that being part of fundraising can bring. Through our activities, games and dialogue with the children we found it enabled them to understand how their actions and participation can help support others in need and bring about change. To say this was a very successful venture is an understatement, from our original goal of $114 dollars to raising over $1,000 and to the sense of community it brought about within the families in our Preschool and the pride they felt at the end of RRRRRRRRRRR Pirate Day adventure!!!“

Karlie Ross – The Ellie Project
Toowoomba
"We encouraged our local community of Toowoomba to host their own Talk Like a Pirate Day as part of our team, The Ellie Project. We were honoured that five separate groups - ranging from kindergartens, a youth group, and a high-end salon - participated with, collectively, over 200 pirates for the day. We raised over $3,000 and we know first-hand that this money goes into providing emergency and long-term accommodation for families like ours who receive an unexpected and devastating childhood cancer diagnosis. Although we have moved home, we still access Childhood Cancer Support's short-term accommodation and are grateful that they continue to be a home away from home."

“Talk Like a Pirate Day is a fundraiser close to all our heart and is a beautiful way to show our support for the children and families currently living with a childhood cancer diagnosis. Our team work across a number of offices, so the Talk Like a Pirate Day fundraiser works really well for us. We are able to collect donations online, and upload pirate themed backgrounds to our video chats as a way of including those who work remotely, and just generally connect with our team in a fun way to support this cause. The team at Childhood Cancer Support are always so helpful with setting up our online account and we are pleased to work with them each year to raise funds for those in need. “
